North Sea Jazz '10

Hallelujah, I'm going to the North Sea Jazz Festival next july!
I actually know it for quite a long time now, but I totally forgot to mention it on my blog. How could I?My dad gave it to me as a present last year, one day enjoying the jazz, soul and bluesmusic (North Sea Jazz has more than just jazz) and the most incredible artists.
God, I love the festival feeling. And I love jazz, soul and blues.
I'm going one day with my dad and I really wanted to go another day. Of course I wanted to go all three days, but that costs a lot of money, not only for the tickets but also for the train and hotel and food and all those things, despite the fact that my parents wouldn't allow me (what the hell, why not?) Anyway, I'm going a second day with a friend and we're gonna see.... tadamtadam:
Norah Jones, Corinne Bailey Rae, Joss Stone (I've seen her once, but couldn't care less to see her another time!), Ryan Shaw, Earth, Wind and Fire, Caro Emerald, Damien Marley, Nas and many, many more.

And that's not all, the complet program is published in April, so it's gonna be two damn awesome days! In special, I'm looking forward to the first three names.Norah Jones for her lazy, jazz songs, Joss Stone for her upbeat soul vibe and Corinne because I don't really know her (only 'Put your Records on) but.. due to her I've got my blog name ('Paris Nights and New York Mornings')

Other big names who have been to North Sea, are Alicia Keys, Amy Winehouse, James Brown, Al Greene, India.Arie, etc, etc.
I'll show you all the pictures!

Roman Holiday

Last week I saw Roman Holiday, a movie introducing Audrey Hepburn. She's so pretty. What I also love about her, is that she is funny and adorable, but yet has character. She knows what she wants and she isn't just a pretty girl, she has power.

Roman Holiday is about princess Ann (Audrey Hepburn) who travels around Europe. When in Rome, she's tired of all the formal meetings and she runs away. Alone, in the night, in Rome. She feels very weird, because she just had a sedative of her doctor. She meets Joe Bradley, an American journalist, who takes her to his home and cares for her, because she's very tired. As you expect, they fall in love. Joe Bradley has to choose between his job and his love for her and Ann has to choose for her country or her love for him. What will happen? I can tell you, the ending of the movie is very unpredictable. It's set in 1953 and won 3 Oscars. Audrey Hepburn won one for her first famous movie.
Glorious!

Love it.

Lazin' on a Sunny Afternoon

I love James Dean

I've been in love with James Dean for over a year and I still hadn't seen 'Rebel without a Cause' ;)
Me and a friend Avalon finally saw the movie yesterday, and now we love James Dean even more.
'Rebel' isn't a fabulous movie, but I still love it, for having James Dean in it!I don't know what it is, but there's something about him, he has this charisma, the 'bad boy' but still vulnerable and sweet feeling..We also saw 'James Dean', a biography movie about his life, with James Franco as James Dean. And even though Franco isn't Dean, he's still absolutely fabulous. A good substitution. The only sad thing about the last movie was the end. It made us totally depressive. Why on earth did he have to die? Which asshole drives up to James Dean, and causes a deadly accident. Man, I hate that guy who caused the accident.
But, I guess James Dean weren't been such a legend if he didn't die at the age of 24.

A Single Man

Wednesday evening I went to 'A Single Man'.
Wonderful movie!
The movie sets in 1962, during the Cuba crisis. It's about a man (Colin Firth), who's younger boyfriend (yes, he's gay) recently died because of a car accident. He can't get over it. One day, he decides he wants to change his life. He takes his gun with him to school, where he teaches, with the intention to kill hisself. But then, all sort of things come on his way, like one of his students who's very worried about him and his best friend (Julianne Moore). She's his ex-girlfriend (so he dated women in the past, but he's only fall in love with guys) and she still has feelings for him. During that day he finds the meaning of his life. Wonderful movie. It's been directed by Tom Ford, main designer of Gucci. The film is very extraordinary, it's not a movie you see a lot. Which makes it even better, I guess.
Well, you should really see it! Makes you think about life ;)
