Quote of the Day

''In order to be irreplacable, one must always be different''
Coco Chanel

Love, Peace and Cars

London, baby!

London is Cool. Londen is Fancy.
London is Punk. London is The Beatles.
London is Queen Victoria. London is black cabs and red busses.
London is Harrods. London is Topshop.
London is Hats. London is Studs.
And above all, London is the place where I'm going next summer!
It's a long story, I don't wanna bore you with unavailing information.
What it comes down to: My dad's working at the 'Vrije Universiteit' in Amsterdam, and he's going to promote, which means he, and a couple of his follow smart friends, are going to study the advertisement. And my dad's territory is the history of advertising in The Netherlands and England. So he's has to go to London for, like, a week, to digg the archives there. And of course, I said I was joining him! And one of my best friends is coming with us too. Which means we, my friend and I, can hang around in London the whole week, just looking to people, making photos, shopping (and shopping and shopping) and going to the musical, etc.
I'm so looking forward to it! (:
Can't wait 'till it's summer.

The Rolling Stone Magazine Top 500 Greatest Hits of all Time

I've recently downloaded the Top 500 Greatest Hits of all Time, according to the Rolling Stones Magazine. It's perfect for me, since I loooove old music and I've got plenty of space on my IPod Classic 160 GB ;)
Number 1 is Bob Dylan's 'Like a Rolling Stone', followed by 'I can't get no Satisfaction' (The Rolling Stones) and 'Imagine' (John Lennon). I really love the first song, Bob Dylan is a genius and this number is awesome. It's ironic that the first two songs have something to do with 'Rolling Stone', though. Other Top Ten songs are: 'Respect' (Aretha Franklin), 'What's Going On' (Marvin Gaye) and 'What I'd Say (Ray Charles). The list is almost entirely composed of North American and British artists. Only three songs from the 21st century - 'Hey Ya' by Outkast, 'Lose Yourself' by Eminem and 'Stan' also by Eminem.
You should really download the list too! It'll take me days before I've listened it all, but I'll keep you informed.

Here are some covers I really adore:

Jazz in New York

Beautiful picture.
Love the atmosphere.
Playin' saxophone on a sunny afternoon at the Hudson River.
By the way, did you know jazz isn't as sweet as it seems?
Many jazzmusicians died because of drugsabuse.
Life on the road was hard, so it was the only way to hold on.
But, the good thing is, that a lot of jazzmusicians detoxed again.
Billie Holiday, Ray Charles, Miles Davis (on his own), James Brown, etc.
Well, one thing is for sure: New York is, next to New Orleans, the jazziest city you can imagine ;)

My dad, my mom and me, two years ago, in front of the Blue Note, a famous jazz club in NYC.

Music was my first love

And it will be my last..
Music of the future
and music of the past.

To live without my music
would be impossible to do.
In this world of troubles,
my music pulls me through.

Me at a the concert of Joss Stone & Jason Mraz, 2 juli '09

Empire state of mind

Still one of my favourites.
I'd already like it just for the title..
Concrete jungle where dreams are made of,
There's nothing you can’t do,Now you're in New York!!!
These streets will make you feel brand new,the lights will inspire you,
Let's hear it for New York, New York, New York

I'm not sure if Jay-Z really is the new Sinatra, the King of New York
But this song sure gives me the New York feeling, that's what it's all about right?
Man, I want to spend my future over there, I looooove it.
It's a shame I've got to wait for some four years, but then..
Halleluja, I'm going to New York ;)

Amore a prima vista

Sophie Vlaming went wild for the November 2009 issue of the Dutch Glamour.
I adore her photos, she has so much charisma with her big eyes.
Especially this shoot is one of my favourites, it gives this classy, summer feeling.

Richard Avedon

Richard Avedon is one of my favourite photographers. He's very famous for his portrait photography, he photographed a lot of famous people. He died in 2004, he was 81 years old, because of a stroke. He was working on a project of the presidential elections when he died. It's a great loss, because Richard Avedon was a great mind and had a big impact on the fashion and portrait photography. Let's see a view of his best shots!

Spring is in the air!

Everywhere I look around.
Spring is in the air.
Every sight, and every sound.
