Off to Trier

An international project with school, along with Romanian, Polish, French and German schools. I'm very curious, but it seems like a lot of fun to me! I'm going to pack my stuff now, I won't be blogging this week, see you in a week.

Love, Bente

Heath Ledger

Recently, I finished Heath Ledger's biography.
And man, can I adore him more?
It's so magical...
I was thinking about all those actors, singers (think of James Dean, Marilyn Monroe, Elvis) that died so young. It makes them legendarious. And now Heath Ledger is one of them. When I saw 'The Imaginarium of Dr. Parnassus' last month I found it so weird seeing him in his last movie and now he's dead... In the biography was a part that the directors of that movie said that Heath was saying all the time: 'Dammit, I can't sleep!' and that he was taking sleeping pills..

But anyway, I think Heath was a hero. A real Australian actor who hated fame and paparazzi, and that were probably things that made life too much for him. Although his death cause isn't known. Probably too many sleeping pills, but not sure if it was suicide or not.

Heath was so pure and he had this attitude (a bit like James Dean) like I don't give a fuck, just let me do my thing. And he really gave his soul to the important things in his life, his movies (omg, he was phenomonal in 'The Dark Knight', one of the best performances I've ever seen. also kind of scary that it's been said that the dark nature of the role has taken its toll on him), his loves and his daughter, Mathilda Rose.

May he rest in peace and let's see as many of his movies as we can, cause he is amazing.

The Birds

A few months ago I saw this wonderful movie: 'The Birds' was it called. One of the classics from Hitchkock. Since then I have to admit birds freak me out. There was one time, about a year ago, I was walking the dog and suddenly, a giant crow flew at me and landed on my head. I'm serious! I was so frightened. Thank god, I could shake him off so finally, he flew away. But uuuuugh, they scare the hell out of me. Though birds are the symbol of freedom and I love that meaning, I just don't like 'em.

Let me tell you what the movie was about. Melanie Daniels (Jessica Tandy) comes to know, after an accidental meeting in San Francisco, that Mitch Brenners sister Cathy is celebrating her birthday. She finds Mitch very fascinating, so she decides to give his sister two parakeets as a present, which she brings to their home in personal. Mitch is a lawyer and lives during the weekends together with his mother and sister in Bodega Bay.

Melanie rents a boat to fern to their home. But while she's ferning, she gets attacked by a seagull. It seems like an incident, but when the local school is attacked by crows, people freak out.

The birds come and go and come and go. During the movie there come more and more birds. It's amazingly well shot, because very discreet, you see a bird now and then, but it's not that striking.

Melanie stays with the Brenners, while Mitch tries to lock every window and door. Hundreds of birds gather and attack the house at night. The birds come through the chimney and in the meantime, they have killed several people in the village.

And that's all I'm gonna say about the movie.

It's amazing! It's very nice to see how such an old movie (1963) deals with tense and excitement. I tell you, it's very thrilling. And it has that old style I adore, at one time Melanie sits in her car and she's driving through the village and you see wonderful landscapes passing by and it's so fake. It's hilarious! It's definitely just shot in the studio and it's just so fake.

Melanie Daniels is the typical sixties woman. She had blonde hair and this Grace Kelly style and her voice was just odd. But it's striking with the character, though.

I'm telling you, if you want to see a classic 'Hitchkock' you've got to see this one! And did I mention the ending is outrageous? It's not what you expect it to be, sincerely not.

Moon River, wider than a mile,

I'm crossing you in style some day.
Oh, dream maker, you heart breaker,
wherever you're going I'm going your way.
Two drifters off to see the world.
There's such a lot of world to see.
We're after the same rainbow's end--
waiting 'round the bend,
my huckleberry friend,
Moon River and me.

I just saw 'Breakfast at Tiffany's' again.
What a magical movie...

Bluuugh school's starting again..

LANVIN FOR H&M

Yeaaaah, the new special designer for H&M is announced. And it's Alber Elbaz from Lanvin.
It's not my favourite brand, but I have to say it seems wonderful to have a real Lanvin in my closet.

I think the s/s 2010 collection was really nice, with all the pink, red and black. I have to say the f/w 2010 collection is a bit too creepy for me. The models with the straight black hair (including too straight pony) with bigggg fur jackets. They really looked like birds.

But anyway, I think Alber Elbaz is a wonderful man and you have to admit, he looks a bit funny. Like a cartoon figure or something like that.

The collection will be in about 200 H&M stores on the 23th of Novembre. I'm very curious!
