Though I'm not chauvinistic at all - as you'll probably know by now if you're a frequent visiter of my blog - there was a little feeling of pride that appeared when I opened up the very first Dutch Vogue. Our small country has launched a brand new Vogue in this hard times (economically I mean).
I have to admit I was a bit sceptical at first. The Netherlands, averse from too much luxury and always rather sober when it comes to fashion (firm believers in 'less is more') with a Vogue in the magazine shelves?
But I think the editorial staff (mainly ex-editors from the Dutch Glamour) did a great job. I haven't read the entire magazine yet - but I must say it looks good.
Will I be in this list of people one day?
The cover is very pretty, fits perfectly with the beginning of the spring. And the models are really Hollands finest: Romee Strijd, Ymre Stiekema and Josefien Rodermans (already called the perfect mixture of Freja Beha Erichsen and Arizona Muse). The other editorials are to die for as well, a lively Bette Franke and the gorgeous Alek Wek in a jeans shoot.
I must say I'm amazed and I'm already looking forward to the next issue. I think I will spend a lot of years reading and admiring the Vogue - untill one day I might be a part of the editorial staff. Don't be afraid to dream big. Right? ;)
My horoscope tells me it's gonna be a good month. And I always tend to take that very serious. Gold will rain over me - I surely hope so!
Bente, as you are into fashion. Could you tell me why the only Male Vogue I can get is the one from France? (Even though it is cool, I just got the next issue. Ironically it is send via Zürich)
ReplyDeleteWhy isn't there an english one?
